How to pick books in library(in Corpus Christi)

I like reading books but I have a problem to pick books.
When I was high school student, I wrote a book log. Most of books I've read were fiction. I think it's not good habit of reading. No one told me how to pick books. Just said "The more read, more great person.".

There is a rule for choose books in my mentor teacher class. The students should choose two kinds of books.
1. Fiction or whatever they want
2. Non-fiction

It will help students to pick books and to build reading habits.

On September, I'll adapt this way to my students.
